You Tube Channel Description: “It is our hope that 100 years from now people can look on YouTube and still be able to watch our videos. (Hello great, great, great grandchildren, be nice to people and do the right thing)”
I have been fascinated with Dan Traveling for a while now. I admit, I only just started following on Twitter, but I’ve watched a number of his You Tube videos about North Carolina and the Mountains – the history of the old rock churches, the “face Jugs” (a video that pretty much went viral on You Tube) where he narrates and films a man who makes the traditional “face jugs,” thought to have been used in the old days to hold moonshine.
Dan and his wife travel around, and they take pictures and videos as they go, presenting them on their blog and on You Tube and hoping to help preserve the south for their children (and ours) to experience. Those who have known me a long time know that I have been working on a project called “Making History” which would draw together a number of cities and towns to help preserve their heritage and link them through families and events. But this is about Dan.
His tweetstream follows his travels and points out new videos, pictures, and things they spot along the way. It’s unique (as far as I’ve discovered) in its focus and southern charm. Dan has a remarkably well-suited voice to narration, and a steady hand with the HD camera.
Tweepleblog Assessment: An interesting and often educational follow.

David, Thank You so much for your kind words. I would love to hear more on your Making History project. It sounds facinating and a worthwhile adventure!
Dan
Dan, the basic bare-bones of my first attempt is still live:
http://www.historic-hertford.com
It needs refining so that the data gathered can be formatted into a book format – and so that the template would work for any town…it’s a spare-time project that I need to quit neglecting.
I also turned it in to the big Google contest for ideas that should be reporting back with some results soon…maybe I’ll get a sponsor!
David
David, I think your site is a wonderful idea and it has great potential. Keep me posted!
thanks
Dan
