Over the last few months, I’ve been enjoying the hell out of writing a series of flash fiction based on the icons on a certain bulletin board – the little smiley emoticons we have all come to know so well. Since things have shifted, as they are wont to do on the Internet, I’ve decided to give those stories a home here…and to continue my quest. There are a bunch of them on the board in question, and my quest has been (from the beginning) to write a very short story inspired by each of them. There are over twenty already complete, and I’ll be posting them here over the next few days.
As I post the stories, I’ll post the icon along with them so you can see what inspired them. Some are funny, some are horrifying. Some are pretty freaking good, I think. I have always loved Flash Fiction…these (for now) are my gift to all of you….spread the word. Maybe I’ll fictionalize every icon on the Internet…probably not.
