The Fall of the House of Escher

My first collection was published by a small, independent house in 1985. Macabre Ink – recognize it? It was a consortium of authors who banded together with a plan to get a collection out by each of us. We never made it all the way through that list of authors, for a variety of reasons, and I’m not going to list them here. The book featured cover art by Harry Fassl – an artist many will recognize from Deathrealm Magazine and a ton of other places back in the day.

One of the most significant things about this collection, for me, is the inclusion of the introduction by Multiple-Award-Winning author Hugh B. Cave. I did a tribute issue of my magazine, THE TOME, devoted to Hugh and his fiction, and we developed a friendship and correspondence that lasted until his death. That he agreed to do this introduction was a major shot in the arm to a young, beginning writer.

The Contents:

Introduction by Hugh B. Cave
The Fall of the House of Escher
A Candle Lit in Sunlight
Miracles in the Night
On the Third Day
Yours, the Vengeance
On the Road to Damascus
Sparkling Eyes

This is a very rare book. A few copies can be had by searching over at Addall Book Search and occasionally they show up on eBay. I have only one copy myself.
