I’m not going to post a very long note tonight. It’s a busy day, it’s going to be a busy month, and as much as I love this blog, I don’t know how much I’m going to have to invest. I’ll do my best, as always. I have worked hard to build up readerships here, but honestly – if you read this blog regularly, and you haven’t signed up to read along with me over at the read-along site for “Heart of a Dragon,” the Nanowrimo novel…um…why not?
Most of my effort and time will be spent there for the next thirty days, and while the lolcats will be here – and I’ll still be posting – I would hope the reason you follow my blog is that you are at least curious about my writing, if not already a fan. What better way to find out whether you’re interested or not than to read along as I write a new novel? I posted the first private post today – all you need to do to read along is to register over at the website : Heart of a Dragon.
There were only six pre-orders of Vintage Soul prior to Nanowrimo, so I decided, rather than hold a drawing and disappoint any of those six, all of them will become characters in Heart of a Dragon in one way or another. I’m grateful for the sales.
The discount on pre-orders continues through December 1st. I’m giving twenty percent off the cover price and the books will be signed. I sort of hoped that promotion would take off better, but the book will be out in December, and then Stargate Atlantis: Brimstone will be out in February, and sales will take more traditional routes. The words flow on.
I’ve posted the first segment of Heart of a Dragon, and the next will follow tomorrow. I’m going to limit it to around the 1,667 words a post, even if I get well ahead of myself. I’ll keep it a nice, steady, easily followed read from day to day, and I’ll continue to post until the novel is done, not jus
t until the end of Nanowrimo. You can register, read, and catch up at any time.
I may have some other interesting news tomorrow…I will, of course, let you know the minute that I know. There are a couple of things that could move one way or another in the coming week.
Halloween went well here…we took Katie to the mall up in Chesapeake, Virginia, so she could Trick-or-Treat the stores there. She was a ballerina (and a very cute one, if you ask me). We came home then and took some photos of our annual run of Jack-o-lanterns…long weekend, culminating in today and the first words of a new novel. As usual, November feels like a new beginning.
