That won’t be the title of it, but I’m working on a new Cletus J. Diggs tale, and wanted to mention it. Foreman is a character based loosely on a man named Coleman who lives here in Hertford. He’s a big man with a bigger voice…he’s definitely not right…no one seems to know his story. Since that is the case, and he’s left me wondering so many times, I decided I would start writing an alternate story that explains it and use that to keep from worrying it over in my head. I know it would bug Cletus..
The thing that’s cool about this is I stared writing it in a little 3×5 notebook by my bed. Now I have a big, full-sized spiral notebook there. I write a page to a page and a half every night, just before bed, all long-hand (hopefully legibly). I have written a few thousand words and it’s not been hard to keep it going. It feels very odd, and I may feel a lot less smiley about it when it comes time to transcribe…time will tell.
I’ll save the original hand-written manuscript. Maybe I can bind it and make a cool collectible out of it to give away when the book is ready to sell…I say that because I suspect it’s headed into novella land at the least.
Yesterday, Katie and I went out wandering (and Katie Zane and I took the dogs for a walk). We got some local shots, and I thought I’d upload a few…
This is the town Old Mill is loosely based on.
