Being of Service Part 2, Generating Quality Content

You’re swimming with the big dogs now. The second more challenging way to be of service on Twitter is to provide information your friends want or need.

Links are the quickest way to do this. There is some real art in knowing what to link to. The links you publicize should be of interest to your target audience. If you twitter on the environment, your links would be the best posts you can find on the environment. If your list focuses on parenting, try parenting articles. It’s important that you tell people why they want to read the link, in the 140 characters of the post. Here’s an example. If you believe your readers enjoy the LOL Cats series you might pick out one of the best and post a link:

@David_N_Wilson http://twitpic.com/utw8 – U Don’t say? Someone eeted teh BURD? : Lolcat :

@stevegm Happy Sunday. Dog says “You feed me, wash me, love me. You must be god.” Cat says ” You feed me, wash me, love me. I must be god”

It helps if you use TweetDeck which will shorten the link for you.

Secondly sometimes you can share some information from your own experience that people want to hear about. What I’ve seen the most of is inspirational quotes. Confessions can be helpful as well. This is probably the hardest “service” post to make so be careful. One example might be:

@manifestmind You have all the energy you need to accomplish your goals and to fulfill your desires.

To succeed at this, you have to know your readers a little bit, which means you have to read their posts. If you do this, and be open to the possibilities, and care about your twends, being of service and a contributing member of the Twitter community, with all the rights and privileges thereto, will come sooner rather than later. Trust me, you’ll feel the love. And isn’t that what Twittering is all about?
